The Town Nutter Fort, West Virginia is accepting candidates for the position of Police Chief.
The Police Chief is responsible for the administration, supervision, and operation of the Town’s Police Department, including personnel management, budgeting, policy development, community policing, and enforcement of state and local laws.
Qualifications include:
• Current West Virginia law enforcement certification
• Demonstrated knowledge of West Virginia Civil Service laws, rules, procedures, and disciplinary processes
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience
• Supervisory and administrative experience preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and community engagement skills
• Ability to pass background check, drug & alcohol screening, and medical examination

Salary: Starting at $70,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications

The Town of Nutter Fort received its name from a family by the name of Nutter. The Nutters were of Scotch-English descent. Coming to America at an early date, Thomas Nutter first settled in Sussex County, Delaware, where his oldest son, Christopher was born. They moved to Augusta County, Virginia where the family remained until 1769. At that time, they moved to Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and in March, 1772, the Nutter brothers (Thomas, Matthew & Christopher) came to Harrison County where they built and defended the now famous Nutter's Fort. The Town of Nutter Fort was incorporated in 1923 and our present population is approximately 1600 people. The Town is fortunate to have several subdivisions of government that helps make the Town a superior place to reside. Our residents are provided with 24-hour protection from the Nutter Fort Police and Fire Departments.
The Town of Nutter Fort office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
The Town Office can assist you with your water, sewer, trash & recycling needs, or any other requests that may come along.

The Town of Nutter Fort Council Meetings are held the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of every month at 6:30 PM in Council Chambers. The Council Chambers is located in the Police/Fire Department Building.
